In this Italian cult movie, a shy, young student meets an immature, middle-aged man by chance and the two end up spending the day together. it being the middle of August and a national holiday, the city is deserted and the two set off in search of adventure by car. A series of amusing and touching episodes follow but the tale ends in tragedy when the irresponsible behavior of the elder man causes his companion’s death in a horrible car crash.
