In ancient Rome, Emperor Caligola has a big problem: he has to show his virility (coram populo) in occasion of the celebration of Priapo. The young emperor, however, is impotent and risks failing his people, who have come in hundreds. To maintain his dignity he has no choice but to put himself through the cures of Barnardus, where he goes to stay. Although he is followed by a group of inefficient people, the clinician manages to save Caligola’s honour and the happiness of his immortal city.
