The setting is New York. Robots have been created to do most of the work and it is the task of the Super Sheriffs to keep them under control. James Crawley becomes a Super Sheriff and has to stop the warfare between a gang of androids and a gang of replicants. The replicant Dakar becomes his partner and together they manage to restore law and order, although Dakar loses his “life” in the process.
