Today is a sad day for our company. As much a great director as he was a great person, Ettore Scola has died
I had the privilege to know him well and enjoy his friendship and his respect. Just three months ago we presented “Laughing and joking, portrait of an Italian film director”, the documentary film about his life. He wanted his daughters to do this documentary because he said “after I am dead who knows what they will do about me?”. He also had a lot of fun.
Some of the most beautiful films on our catalogue, and some of the best of Italian cinema, were directed by Ettore; titles such as “A Special Day” and “Ugly Dirty and Bad” come to mind.
A few months ago I had the privilege to receive from Ettore and his daughters the duty to sell some of their films such as “Family” and “Dinner.”
I will miss him very much,
Massimo Vigliar, President of Surf Film
